Posted by I love feeding the swans. The more I get to know them, the cuter I find them. They have distinct personalities and a great line in eye contact.
They do occasionally hiss but it’s a soft, hiss that always accompanies being fed, and doesn’t seem threatening. I like the idea that they’re saying thank you.
Spend time watching swans and you’ll see them communicating. They’re much more expressive than I realised before I spent a lot of time feeding them.
I’d seen them as aloof but they can be curious, playful, grateful and excited, from what I’ve seen. There’s a lot more to swans than hissing grumpiness.
