Autumn is the ideal time for crafting, and if you’re based near Loughborough, there’s lots to join in with this week.
This Wednesday and Friday sees free crafting fun for children and adults at the Purple Pumpkin Patch,102 Ashby Road, Loughborough, LE11 3AF. (Children must be accompanied by an adult). Take advantage of their box of recycled craft materials to do a bit of junk modelling, Wednesday 10.30 til 2pm or Friday 2 til 5pm (or both).
Make hanging decorations to take home, or to help decorate the Transition Loughborough tree at Loughborough Community Christmas Tree Festival in November. They would particularly like people to make model hearts, windmills, bicycle wheels and fruit and vegetables
As well as modelling materials and fabrics, the Purple Pumpkin Patch will have glue, glitter, beads and buttons to make your decoration sparkle.
No booking required but space is limited to 8 people seated at one time.
Saturday sees a home themed Upcycle Your Life event at Fearon Hall in Loughborough, including a talk ahead of Potato Day 2019.
Make home spa treats and learn how to make upcycled draught excluders. Meet Transition Loughborough, learn about food dehydration to make it last longer, and enjoy a talk from Karen Gimson.
If you can’t make these events, there are lots of festive crafts you can try at home. Make an apple doll Halloween decoration or turn pine cones into hedgehogs by adding beads for eyes. Make roses from leaves or try leaf rubbing. It may be cold outside but there’s lots you can craft indoors.
