Wellbeing: Easy Listening

Posted by

As autumn moves towards winter, my sofa becomes ever more tempting. When I’m stuck indoors, podcasts help ease the boredom – and combine well with crafting. Here are a few of my favourites.

Distraction Pieces by Scroobius Pip

Laid back and intelligent chat with creative and interesting people. Scroobius Pip also has much excellent music to listen to.

An Hour of So With Sue Perkins

An extremely funny woman with interesting guests. Easy, eloquent entertainment.

RHLSTP by Richard Herring

A lively and entertaining comedy-focussed podcast based around interviews with amusing people. A great way to discover new comedy, and hear answers to questions that wouldn’t be asked anywhere else.

The Adam Buxton Podcast

Another long-running comedy podcast, expect jingles and songs alongside comedy chat. Informal and fun.

David Tennant Does a Podcast With…

Another interview based podcast, Tennant interviews fellow actors and A-listers.

The Last Days of August by Jon Ronson

Sad, compelling and thoroughly researched documentary based around the final days of adult industry performer, August Ames.

The Cosmic Shambles Network is a great source of new podcasts, covering books, science and comedy. I’m also looking forward to Festival of the Spoken Nerd’s forthcoming podcast,  A Podcast of Unnecessary Detail. Having seen many of their shows, I suspect it will be brilliant. Gardens, Weeds and Words is also on my ‘to listen’ list. Which are your favourite podcasts? Add them in the comments.
