Upcycle Your Life: Autumn Preparations

Posted by

Find out how to make the most of autumn, with seasonal produce, upcycling fun and nature crafting at Fearon Hall, Loughborough on Saturday 22nd September.

Sample some of the delights you can find for free this autumn. Discover where you can get food for free locally, whether you’re an individual or a charitable group. If you can afford to eat, bring a food box or tin of food for someone who can’t – or donate a meal by buying a ‘pay it forward’ voucher from the café.

Enjoy delicious food from the Café at the Hall, along with Co-op Fairtrade tea and coffee and local zero waste produce. Try nature crafting and make your own seasonal toiletries from storecupboard ingredients.

Show off your own festive fare by entering the jam, chutney and pickle making competition. Bring three jars to enter: one will be judged, one will go into a prize hamper and one will be donated to a food poverty organisation.

Learn how to turn jumpers into cushions and draught excluders; and bring jam jars, pretty bottles, old toiletry packaging and spice jars for jam, chutney and toiletry makers – along with any crockery and kitchen accessories food  cluttering up your cupboards, to swap or donate to people in need.

You can also meet community groups including Transition Loughborough, GrowEatGift.com, Leicestershire Wastenot, Leicestershire Community Cupboard, Fairtrade, The Crop Club, Plastic Pledge and more.

Upcycle Your Life takes place from 11am-2pm and is free to attend.
